I would like to start off by thanking everyone for your continued support of Specialty Coffee Association of Japan and participation in events that it sponsors.
Over 20 years, since the birth of Specialty Coffee, and thanks to stable demand in not only developed consumer markets, such as Europe and the United States, but also in the Asian region, consumption continues to increase and our business model continues to bring us success and prosperity in the industry.
Even in Japan, the consumption of Specialty Coffee continues to increase and the market grows annually despite the leveling off of the importation and consumption of commercial coffee.
Some of the reasons for this growth are the diversity of quality that Specialty Coffee offers and the popularity amongst consumers for this product that they highly acclaim.
Our current environment is enabling the innovations to technology and distribution that can further improve the quality of production and manufacturing of Specialty Coffee, which is necessary if we are to continue to grow the market and earn the support of consumers.
Amidst this environment, the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan will be holding the SCAJ World Specialty Coffee Conference & Exhibition 2017, the largest conference of its kind, in September. The theme for the conference is “The Age of Innovation.”
The Specialty Coffee Association of Japan hopes that the information on innovative products, technology and distribution conveyed during this conference will be useful for your Specialty Coffee business and contribute to your success.
Thank you for your broad and continued support to the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ).
Celebrating 14 years since its founding, SCAJ has made a fresh start toward putting on its 13th exhibition.
Last year’s edition of the event, SCAJ2016, featured 210 booths by 105 specialty coffee-related businesses and groups from 21 countries and regions including coffee-producer nations. A total of 26,770 people visited from 32 countries and areas during the three-day exhibition period, topping previous records. This proved the event’s significance to the Japanese and international community as the biggest specialty coffee event in Asia.
The theme for SCAJ2017 is “The Age of Innovation.”
This theme is intended to convey that countless innovations are underway in the specialty coffee supply chain, and that such changes will drive the specialty coffee industry forward.
Numerous innovations are taking place from the first step of the “from seed to cup” supply chain—the production frontline of specialty coffee—to the final step when the barista extracts coffee.
Our association is aiming to swiftly deliver information on innovation at SCAJ2017.
The association hopes visitors witness in the event that a variety of things associated with specialty coffee is continuing to make groundbreaking progress. It would be SCAJ’s pleasure to have people around the world be pleasantly surprised and left with the impression that specialty coffee is an appealing drink, and experience the wonders of specialty coffee which now is becoming established as part of modern lifestyle.
